Our services include newbuilding of steel and aluminum vessels and repair and services of marine as well as O&G assets. We also offer offshore and afloat repair services to clients worldwide. Our diving division offers their services out of Fujairah including underwater hull cleaning.

DIVING SERVICES:

Albwardy Damen Diving has been serving the marine industry since 1995. Our diving hub is located in Fujairah Port, however, our diving teams serve all UAE ports and anchorages. In addition to the UAE we also send teams to Africa and can carry out our full range of diving services in Salalah, in the Sultanate of Oman.

Albwardy Damen Diving

Albwardy Damen Diving was founded in 1995 due to the demand for vessel maintenance without drydocking. We have invested in the very latest diving and underwater maintenance equipment. This ensures the highest standards of safety and workmanship. The division currently has a team of more than 25 certified commercial divers. Ongoing training has led to six divers now being HSE1 qualified and two trained for underwater welding. Our diving hub is located in the Port of Fujairah and we operate two customised diving boats to support our underwater teams.

UWILD Surveys

Albwardy Damen Diving is approved by the majority of classification societies to carry out Under Water Inspection in Lou of Drydock (UWILD) surveys; a cost effective alternative to drydocking a vessel for a bottom survey.

Pre-docking

In cases where vessels must go into drydock for major work; a pre-docking service is available to completely clean a hull of fouling and loose paint. This is a very popular service that can save up to two days of drydock time.

Anchor/Chain Cable Recovery

At Fujairah and Khor Fakkan anchorages Albwardy Damen Diving maintains the necessary equipment and personnel for anchor and chain cable recovery.

In-Water Repairs

Albwardy Damen Diving offers a variety of in-water repair services including sea chest blanking, stress crack relieving, anode retrofits, and wet and dry welding applications. Utilising a range of open and closed cofferdams, we are able to crop corroded/pitted bottom shell plating and dry-weld new steel plate inserts whilst the vessel is afloat. These renewals are to class requirements and are a permanent repair. Our highly trained divers are able to carry out detailed damage surveys enabling precise repairs to be made. In-water repairs can save valuable time and money by avoiding the need to drydock.

Propeller Polishing

Increased fuel consumption can often result from badly fouled propellers. If not polished correctly, the fouling quickly re-establishes itself on a rough propeller. Albwardy Damen Diving uses the very latest in hydraulic polishing machinery, with a selection of intermediate and fine grain polishing pads. This deliver a polished finish to the highest standards of less than One Micron C.L.A. This is equivalent to Rubert Grade 'A'. Close up and stand-off photography is provided to demonstrate the standard of polishing carried out.

Underwater Hull Cleaning (including Silicone Paints)

It is well known that marine growth left on a vessel's hull can increase fuel costs by up to 15%. It is equally important that whilst removing growth, care must be taken not to damage the antifouling paintwork. Coupled with our divers' experience and the very latest in hydraulic, motorised hull cleaning machines - the "Triton V" - we are able to safely clean a hull without causing any damage to the underlying paintwork. The "Triton V" machine is equipped with three rotating brushes which are fully adjustable for correct brush pressure against the ship’s hull. The operational speed is high; allowing for the complete cleaning of a VLCC with two machines in less than 12 hours. We have also undergone extensive testing with paint manufacturers and are approved to clean silicone based foul release paint.

NEW BUILDING

Albwardy Damen has state-of-the-art facilities for the construction of all types of modern and complex vessels.

Supported by Damen quality building technology we build Damen as well Non-Damen designs in steel and aluminum up to 120 metres. 

Our recent projects include tugs, workboats, pontoons, dredgers, fast crew supliers and a self-propelled lift boat.

ENGINEERING

Albwardy Damen has a multi-disciplinary Engineering and Production support team comprising of qualified and experienced Naval Architects, Engineers and Draughts-men, capable of providing an end-to-end Engineering services to the new building, conversion, ship repair and oil and gas industry.

The department use the latest software, such as Autohydro, STAAD.Pro, ANSYS, Nupas Cadmatic, Siemens NX and Rhino, providing a one stop solution to Customers in the following areas:

Albwardy Damen is working in close collaboration with Damen’s Central Engineering Office in the Netherlands. The design and engineering calculations are performed in-house in accordance with Damen Quality Standards which has been developed from the expertise gained through years of Ship building and operational experience and continuous improvement by the Damen R&D team.

We recognise that we work in a dynamic industry involving potentially hazardous equipment and operations. These activities demand an active implementation of comprehensive HSEQ policies and practices to protect our employees and minimise our ecological footprint.

With all key competences in-house, including an extensive engineering division, we repair and build vessels to the highest technical and environmental standards. We are certified by LRQA to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001, OHSAS18001 as well as API Q1. 

REPAIRS:

We  offer offshore and afloat repair services to clients worldwide. Our diving division offers their services out of Fujairah including underwater hull cleaning.

SHIP REPAIR

Ship repairs are offered from our locations in Sharjah, Dubai and Fujairah. With all major trades in-house we offer steel, aluminum, mechanical, carpentry, blasting, painting, hydraulic and and electric repairs mainly carried out by our own staff.

Dry Docking & Repairs

Our largest operation, Damen Albwardy - Sharjah is conveniently located in the Sharjah Hamriyah Free-zone with unrestricted access to the sea. Just like Dubai, this yard is ideally positioned for easy access to all seven Emirates as well as providing connections to neighboring Gulf States closer to the Straits of Hormuz.

Conversions

We have a great deal of experience with large and small conversion jobs. The open sea access and the spacious and efficient layout of our Albwardy Damen facility is particularly well-suited to mobilization and demobilization of equipment and the carrying out of complex conversions.

Oil & Gas

Within the oil & gas business line we focus on repairs and conversion of assets such as rigs, complex offshore ships etc. We are certified to ISO 9001, 14001, 18001 and API and pre-Qualified by all major rig operators in the region. Our 2014 opened yard allows us to do things safe, fast and efficient. Projects carried out to date include SPM refurbishments, Lift boat refurbishments Leg/Bracing repairs, and overhauls of offshore cranes.

Blasting and Painting

Albwardy Damen facilitates its own in-house blasting and painting department. Grit, garnet as well hydro-blasting is executed by well trained technicians. A fully enclosed blasting and painting shed is part of the facility in Sharjah Hamriyah.

Carpentry

Our in-house carpentry division executes work on new building vessel, offshore units as well repair and conversion projects. Works will be carried out under the highest quality levels to ensure the best results.

Machining services

Our workshops are equipped with a range of modern machine tools, including large horizontal and vertical boring machines, pipes bending and rolling equipment, CNC machines and equipment for the dynamic balancing of rotating machinery.

Mechanical services

Mechanical services are offered at the yards itself as well afloat. With experienced engineers works on all main, auxiliary, deck and propulsion system are executed in the most professional way.

Electrical Services

Albwardy Damen has its own in-house electrical department providing various electrical services including the rewinding of electrical motors of up to 1800 KVA capacity. In addition Albwardy Damen has a qualified team headed by a hydraulic engineer dedicated to the maintenance of hydraulic equipment and associated systems.

Our modern and well equipped workshops are run by a dedicated team of professionals with many years of experience, capable of providing hydraulicservices.

CNC pipe shop

Prefabrication to the highest standard

Our CNC controlled pipe fabrication shop offers all kinds of piping to Classification and API standards. We can produce piping based on on-board survey or based on a 3D scanning & engineering. We offer carbon, stainless and non-ferrous piping in any dimension and in any quantity. Either as a turnkey project or as a step by step process – whichever best fits your operation.

Propeller repairs

We offer repairs to fixed and CPP propellers to procedures approved by all major class societies. Our in house team of approved welders and balancing specialists guarantees the highest quality. Services offered include:

• straightening;

• polishing;

• cavitation repairs;

• new blade tips;

• crack repairs;

• balancing;

• inspections;

• blue fitting and emergency repairs.

AFLOAT REPAIRS:

AFLOAT REPAIRS IN ALL UAE PORTS AND ANCHORAGES OR UNDERWAY, ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD

Our extensive workshops in Dubai, Sharjah and Fujairah serve as a base for our Afloat Repairs Division.  CDC & BOSIET Certified Riding squads are available to meet customer requirements on board vessels in all UAE ports and anchorages, as well as on vessels underway anywhere in the world.

Our repair portfolio includes hull and deck steel repairs including pipework, hydro-blasting and painting works, mechanical works such as engine overhauling, hydraulic and electrical works.

We undertake complex projects – modifications, damage repairs, and conversions afloat. We have layby berths available up to VLCC size for clients looking for a cost effective alternative to a drydock. Having engineering, as well as a CNC pipeshop, in-house allows us to carry out large scale retrofits, such as ballast water management systems, quickly and efficiently. We can execute projects of any kind, from complete turnkey work, to installation of equippment provided by the client.

Activities include:

• hull and deck steel repairs including pipework;

• pipe (pre)fabrication in CNC pipeshop or on board;

• hydro-blasting and painting work;

• mechanical, hydraulic and electrical works;

• 2 stroke and 4 stroke engine overhauls;

Albwardy Damen is the official distributor in the UAE for nine well-known international marine equipment manufacturers.

Kobelco Eagle Marine Engineering (KEMEL)

Since 1995, Albwardy Damen has been the exclusive authorised service agent for Kobelco Eagle Marine Engineering throughout the Gulf region. Our service engineers have undergone comprehensive service training at Kobe Steel, Takasago, Japan for both Kobelco oil and Eagle water stern tube seals.

Kawasaki Thrusters & CPP

Since December 2009, Albwardy Damen has represented Kawasaki Heavy Industries across the Middle East for its propulsion systems (controllable pitch propellers) and thruster units.

Mitsubishi Kakoki Kaisha - Centrifugal Oil Purifiers

Since 2001, Albwardy Marine Engineering has been the exclusive authorised sales and service agent for Mitsubishi Oil Purifiers. Our highly qualified technicians provide comprehensive support to customers across the Middle East for complete installations, troubleshooting, the supply of spare parts, overhauling and balancing.

Mitsubishi – 2 Stroke- UEC engines

Since 2003, Albwardy Damen has been authorised as a service centre for the provision of trained engineers and technicians for carrying out of trouble-shooting, routine overhauls and repairs on all types of Mitsubishi UEC marine diesel engines. We provide a prompt and efficient service across the Middle East.

Mitsubishi MET Turbochargers

We are an authorised service centre for Mitsubishi MET turbochargers. From our workshops in Dubai and Fujairah we offer service to our clients operating MET Turbochargers either for parts, on board repairs or workshop overhauls.

Yanmar Marine Diesel Engines

Our service engineers and technicians, trained at Amagasaki Large Engine Works, Japan, can carry out complete overhauls or the full servicing of all models of Yanmar marine diesel engines and gearboxes above 220hp.

Propeller Repairs

Since 2004, Albwardy Damen has been carrying out propeller repairs in the Middle East. Our technicians have undertaken comprehensive training in the Netherlands for all kinds of propeller repairs from re-pitching and blade renewals to class society approval.

Vesconite

RUDDER, STERN TUBE, WINDLASS/WINCHES & PUMP BEARINGS

Vesconite is a specialised thermoplastic made from internally lubricated polymers. It has been recognised since the 1960s as an exceptional material for bearings operating in demanding conditions. Vesconite has high dimensional stability and does not swell in water. This is in contrast to most synthetic materials, e.g. nylon swells up to 3% in water and also softens.

Vesconite is approved by most major class societies including ABS, LRS, DNV, NKK, BV, GL & CCS.

Albwardy Damen carries a comprehensive stock of Vesconite Bearings. Vesconite is suitable for use wherever a plain bearing is required, including in winches and windlasses, pumps, stern tubes and rudder stock bearings.
